Find an MPC observatory

Observatory Atlas maps the fixed observatories of the Minor Planet Center. Search them by MPC code, by name or by location.

Each station carries two estimates. Sky glow adds VIIRS night-light data within 100 km, calibrated against the World Atlas of Artificial Night Sky Brightness, and is reported as a Bortle class and a zenith brightness in mag/arcsec². Cloud cover combines MODIS night observations with ERA5 model layers and is reported as the share of nights with cloud above the station.

Both are modelled values, not measurements taken at the telescope.
